I have never surfed. Is a group lesson really the right start?

Yes, and most people who book with us have never stood on a board. Groups are six people maximum with one certified instructor who is in the water with you, not watching from the sand. If you would rather not learn alongside other people, take a private lesson instead.

What do I need to bring?

A swimsuit and a towel. The board, the wetsuit and the lycra are included, and there are hot showers, a changing room and a private locker for your things. Sun cream is a good idea, and the reef-safe kind is a better one.

Is there a minimum age?

There is no minimum age for lessons. The person paying online has to be 18 or over, and if anyone in the booking is under 18 we ask for a guardian name and consent during checkout.

Do I have to choose the days for a lesson pack when I buy it?

No. You can pick your days at checkout if you already know them, or buy the lessons and choose later from the link in your confirmation email. Most people visiting for a week or two choose later, because plans move.

What happens if I cannot make my lesson?

We do not offer refunds, because a booked lesson takes an instructor and equipment out of circulation. If something comes up, tell us at least 24 hours beforehand and we will do our best to move you to another day, subject to space and instructor availability.

Why is there a 300 EUR deposit on daily rental?

Because the gear leaves with you for the day rather than staying on the beach in front of us. You leave the deposit at reception when you pick up, not online, and you get it back when the gear comes back. Hourly rental does not need one.

What is the difference between training and a membership?

Training is the coached session, once or twice a week, plus the lockers and showers. A membership is that same training plus two hours of equipment a day, every day we are open, so you can also surf on your own without owning a board.

Can I cancel a monthly membership?

Any time. Memberships renew automatically every 30 days, or every 90 on the quarterly plan, and there is a link on every receipt that lets you change your card or cancel without calling anyone.

What languages do you teach in?

English and Spanish.

What if the sea is too big on the day I booked?

We call it, not you. La Cicer is filtered by the reef and changes a lot with the tide, so a forecast that looks big is often fine on the sand. If it genuinely is not safe for your level we will move you to another slot or another day.

Where exactly are you?

Calle Covadonga 25, 35010 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. That is a one minute walk from La Cicer, the surfing end of Las Canteras, in Guanarteme. We are open every day from 09:00 to 21:00.
